Migoto Neko (or My Cat Likes Orange)

Gosh, I hope I got that right, because I think "Migoto Neko" means "beautiful cat". At any rate, I was taking photos yesterday of some asian paper fans. It seems that Hunter wanted to help and he was really taken by this fan in particular - I think it's because orange is his favorite color:

"Hi Ma! Hey, whatcha got there?"

"Mind if I give it a whiff?"

"I love you, orange fan."

After all that sniffing and following me around all day like a puppy, Hunter had a nice long nap in my chair .. the perfect way to spend a "Caturday" afternoon.

Before slipping off to dreamland, Hunter wanted me to tell you that he's offering 15% off anything orange in my shop, today only, February 1st. Just mention how cute you think he is when you check out and he'll calculate your discount.

Hugs,
Layla

Resolutions

One of my resolutions for the new year is to kick my creativity up a notch. I'm going to take a shot at being more crafty... starting today.

This afternoon, I made these wonderful lemon-lime bath bombs:

And also these orange-strawberry parfait ones:

Needless to say, they both smell great and I'm off to take a bath and try one. You can pick up a four pack of my bath bombs in my Etsy shop for $10 - mix or match!

See you tomorrow!

Bath Bomb Success!

Third time truly is a charm!

I finally made three batches of bath bombs (lemon, orange, and mint) that didn't turn out like bath pancakes and for that, I am truly grateful! Take a look:

On my way home, I got a surprise phone call - I got in to the November 29th holiday bazaar in Bothell!! I'm so excited that I actually squealed when I was talking to the organizer.

Oh my gosh - do you think I'll be ready in time? There's so much to do! I have to make more lavender dryer bags and catnip toys and omg, I hope my soap is ready in time! And signs .. I need to remake my signs ..........................

How To Make Simmering Potpourri

Materials: cloves, cinnamon sticks, orange peel ribbons and star anise.

1. To make the potpourri you need to mix equal amounts of cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise. Variations include adding bay leaves, orange peel ribbons, dried orange and lemon peel.

2. Fill a glass jar container with the potpourri with a cork top so it stays fresh. Or place into muslin bags as gifts. Use raffia to decorate the bottle and the muslin bags.

Simmering instructions:

-Place in a shallow pan and cover with water.
-Simmer on low and refill water as necessary.

Make a few of these and keep them on hand this holiday season - they make lovely "emergency" gifts!
