Recipe for Lavender Hair Mist

Many of you have been asking for recipes and instructions for some of the product in my shop. I've got a ton of ideas to share and here's the first one!

Lavender Hair Mist
Boil the water, remove from heat and add 5-10 drops of the oil. Let this cool for at least an hour, then pour into a spray bottle.

This natural hair conditioning spray can be misted on the hair regularly and smells fantastic! It provides control and it fights frizz too!

Tested on Animals!

A new-ish addition to my Etsy shop are Catnip Knots - they come with a 1/4 pound bag of the most powerful catnip known to man (or cat).

I decided to break my own rule and test this product on animals and I think the results are pretty good.

"Ma ... why is the room spinning?"

Hunter is such a great little guy .. he's one of those happy go lucky cats that doesn't need much but is so appreciative when he's given something nice. He played with that catnip-infused cloth knot (yes, that white thing he's laying on) for about 45 minutes straight.

This product is really special to me as I donate the entire sale to It's Meow or Never Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. So, not only do you make your own kitties really happy with a new toy, you'll be helping to provide the essentials for kitties that have lived pretty tough lives prior to being saved by my favorite animal rescue organization.

Each of us have a special cause that we feel a calling to and mine happens to be animals. What's your special cause and what do you do each day to help out?

Happy Sunday!

Eeeeeeee! Whooopeee!!

As I mentioned a couple of blog postings ago, I won the March challenge at Etsy for Charity. Today, another of my winnings arrived.

First of all, do you know what this is?

If you answered "standard brown paper lunch bag" you're right. I nearly had to grab one and breathe into it when I saw this:

This bears explaining. When I won, I was invited by Valerie over at Valerie's Gallery to select an item from her shop. "An" ... meaning "one". But ... why were there two packages??

Begin extreme squeal sequence.

"Squeeeaaaaaall!!!"

When I unwrapped both packages, I discovered that the very wonderfully sweet Valerie included a bonus pair of hand knitted hand warmer muffy things - deliciously soft fingerless gloves that match perfectly to the beautiful pale pink scarf I selected as my prize.

Valerie?? How did you know?? I have been looking (drooling uncontrollably) for a pair of these for so long! I work on the computer A LOT and my hands are always cold. I think I love you. You are my new B.F.F.

How do they look? Fabulous, you say? Yes, I think so too!

In all seriousness, I want to send a great big hug to my new friend Valerie all the way in New York. You have seriously made my day and I couldn't be more thrilled with this lovely surprise in the mail today. Your work is *beautiful*!

If you happen to be surfing around and doing some virtual shopping, please make a point to stop by Valerie's Gallery - in addition to hand knitted items she has beautiful felted bowls and vases in a variety of colors. She's got clever iPod and knitting needle covers too!

The First Gift ...

I recently won the Etsy for Charity March giveaway with my Lime bath bomb entry. I won several really fantastic prizes and the first arrived today.

Mae Bee's pretty little silver bracelet came so sweetly packaged that I had to get a shot of everything so you could experience it too. Every detail is perfect and ready for gift-giving! Please take a moment to check out the rest of her items on Etsy - you won't be disappointed. And considering that she's part of Etsy for Charity, you'll know that you're supporting a very good cause with your purchases.

I don't know which is nicer .. the packaging or the bracelet! I'll let you be the judge!

Layla

The Crime Scene - WINNER: IT'S MEOW OR NEVER!

The Challenge

Update: It's Meow or Never is the winner!

The answer is: "The half eaten apple was still white."

Solve the following:

Shadow arrived at the hospital to find that Sam Slug, who had been in a coma, died moments ago while under police custody. Officer Bob Slack, who was assigned to guard the door, swore that no one had entered the room since a nurse had last checked in on him some two hours earlier. Aside from an autopsy, Shadow ordered that the hospital room be combed for clues.

The only unusual thing found was a waste can containing crumpled pieces of paper, a tongue depressor, a half eaten apple, and an empty cigarette pack. Other than that, everything seemed normal.

After the search, Shadow suggested to Officer Slack that he was lying, and that someone had indeed been in the room in the last half hour.

What caused Shadow to draw such a conclusion?

The Rules

The challenge ends at 7pm PST on March 20th. The first person to post the correct answer will win. If multiple individuals get the right answer, the individual who posts first will win. Please be sure to either leave a way for me to get in touch with you if you win OR come back on March 20th to see if you've won!

The Prize

The winner of this week's challenge will receive a sample of delicious, loose leaf *chocolate* tea!

Have fun and remember to share this week's challenge with your friends!
